This covers the role of SME’s and the larger companies, the multinational corporations, in the UK and their part in the overall production and distributive processes. This includes a review of the evolving nature of government supervision and regulation of the ‘competitive framework’ and the pricing processes. The aims and consequences of privatisation and the notions of ‘deregulation’ are evaluated as a major arm of ‘supply side’ economic philosophy.

This module challenges students to be creative in identifying a new business opportunity and in examining the viability of all aspects of the idea in the real-world context e.g. The module provides the quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills that underpin the success of an empirical research project. This module helps to build the sound foundation required to undertake a final year project / dissertation module. Furthermore, you will be introduced to various aspects of finance such as financial markets, instruments, concepts, and the institutional arrangements relating to the issuances and trading of various capital market securities. A blended teaching and learning approach may include the use of websites, videos, guest talks from industry and support for employability enhancing classroom activities. Starting with a review of the changes in the UK economic structure over the last 50 years, the market context within which government economic policy operates is explained.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS FINANCE

The aim of this module is to give students a strong understanding of key theories, policies and issues which will be analysed in the light of current international debates. It drives the opportunity for performance improvement and, with advances in technology and software, data are generated at an ever increasing rate. As such, it is not surprising business data analysis and software skills are among the top graduate skills sought by employers today. Understanding and Managing Data, responds to these market demands by providing the underpinning skills required to make effective use of quantitative and statistical analyses and develops students’ interpretation and reporting skills.

This module aims to ensure students have a clear understanding of the employers expectation and how to best prepare to face the job market at this level. The module begins with an opportunity for self-evaluation where students complete a skills audit in order to identify strengths and weaknesses relative to the job applications. Once this reflective exercise is completed, students will address and enhance the areas of weaknesses identified and also be supported and mentored towards job opportunities that would best utilise their strengths. Ideal for aspiring and developing financiers, lawyers, bankers and related corporate professionals, this programme aims to create a positive learning environment in which you can practice advanced scholarship and research. You will also gain academic and intellectual progression in a discrete area of international law.

This degree option allows you to focus on marketing and the management of human resources. Alongside the core international business modules, you will study international human resource management and marketing as a creative practice, plus have a range of other options to choose from.
